This is Candy Vive. This used to be a point-of-sale display piece designed to look like a candy machine. The front portion was aquatic, while the rear was terrestrial. The two areas were completely off sealed from each other. A charcoal filter was run occasionally to keep the water clean, although I also used to cycle water through the system about 10 to 15 times a week. The maintenence was a little tedious, but my little fire bellied toads [Bombina orientalis] didn't seem to mind. I kept this vivarium with the pair at work next to my computer. Everyone loved them. They make such cute noises.
Well, I created Candy Vive II to give away as a prize (never got there), then tried to sell it at Radical Reptiles, then once again at the NARB Conference at Valley Forge to no avail. One of the fire bellied toads from Candy Vive 1 escaped and the whole thing started to look weary and bad. So, the Candy Vive II is there to replace it. In the meantime, these pics are left for all to see the original.
